Lost and Crowned Compiled Work (2019-2020)

On this Clash of Clans/Royale short film for Supercell, I worked in various key roles at Psyop. Primarily I was the Look Development supervisor (textures and shaders). In addition to that, I worked as an early environment visual development modeler, helping understand scale and working out how the world would feel in true 3D space. I also contributed to a lot of set dressing work and scene assembly tasks. As we moved on into full production, I also lit and precomped several shots.

Ultimately, I’m very proud of what we achieved as a culmination of a lot of the cinematic Clash work we did as a studio, and felt it was a great tribute to fans of the IP and characters.

Production still of Look Development render of the “Armory” set shared on Cartoon Brew. I was responsible for surfacing and set dressing. It was fun and challenging to create organized chaos in the set dressing as well as keep lots of references to the various levels available in the game for the props.

This is one of the favorite shots I lit.

I lit this shot with the Ram Rider and the Princess hanging out, along with the Ram.

Worked on some look dev and lighting.

This set was a highly collaborative process. Ultimately, I was primarily responsible for working on the walls, crystals, and doing a lot of integration and assembly work of the other assets.

Lit the shot above and also textured the electro baby dragon.

Set and props texturing.

Set texturing and shading of this one-off wall for the final pullout shot.

Lighting and skeleton texture work. It was important to get breakup and gobos in the lighting to feel like they were inside a castle with window bars.
